Default DisplayMate other Laptop able software generators

My latest laptops have discrete graphics cards and HDMI ports and was looking for a simpler solution then the old remote and click. I was wondering if anybody has experience with DisplayMate and whether it has the required windows for ColorHCFR, if so which version of the software are you using. From what I understand the software runs at the core level so color windows and patterns are not affected by the computers ICM. Are there any others that behave the same way that are freeware? Or has someone found a method to display HTPC generator or play the AVSHD 709 .iso without being altered by the graphics card or Windows?

Thanks.

I think I may give DisplayMate a call and find out the specifics regarding color windows etc.. It looks like I could also use it for PC display calibration through CCC or Nvidia Control Panel for quasi hardware calibration on my Dell 30" monitors vs LUT's. I'll post what I find out.
