Microsoft XP Driver Instructions

  • Extract the two files from the Zip.
  • Run ControlCAL_USBSerial-Driver_XP2K_v204102.exe.
  • If you get a message similar to: "There is already a driver with the same VID&PID.. ", click YES to remove the old driver.
  • Follow the remaining instructions onscreen with the Installer.
  • If asked to Reboot your system, click YES.
  • If you had to Reboot your system, re-run ControlCAL_USBSerial-Driver_XP2K_v204102.exe and follow the instructions onscreen with the Installer.
  • That's It! You can now plug in your Adapter.

Verify/Change COM Port Assignment

NOTE: You should now have the ControlCAL USB Serial Adapter plugged into one of your computer's USB Ports.

1) Enter the Control Panel.
2) If your Control Panel window doesn't look like picture below, click on "Switch to Classic View" near the top left.
3) Click on the System icon.

4) Click on the Hardware tab.

5) Click on Ports (COM & LPT).
6) Look for Prolific USB to Serial Comm Port (COMx).
7) x is the COM Port Number the Adapter is assigned to. If x is between 1 - 9, you are done. You need to configure ControlCAL to use this COM Port (COM8 in this example - MENU/SETTINGS/PORT SETTINGS).

If you don't need to change the COM Port, simply exit the Device Manger, click Cancel on the System Properties window and close the Control Panel window.

8) If you need to change the COM Port Number, click on Prolific USB to Serial Comm Port (COMx) - see picture above.
9) Click on the Advanced.. button - see picture below.

10) Select the COM Port desired under COM Port Number - see picture below.

NOTE: For ControlCAL, you need to select a COM Port Number from 1 - 9.

That's it! Make sure you select the same COM Port in ControlCAL (MENU/SETTINGS/PORT SETTINGS).

Sorry, but I'm a little confused about the installation sequence of the Keyspan USB Serial Adapter Software and the ControlCAL adapter drivers.

In this thread is written to install the software from the Keyspan CD, but there is nothing mentioned about the ControlCAL_USBSerial-Driver.

http://www.controlcal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=29

In the ControlCAL Pioneer 9G ISFccc Profile Set User's Guide pdf is written on page 3:

Do i have to install both, the Keyspan Software from the CD and the ControlCAL_USBSerial-Driver_XP2K_v204102, when i use the recommended Keyspan USB Serial Adapter?
Or is the ControlCAL_USBSerial-Driver_XP2K_v204102 only for different USB Serial Adapters (non Keyspan USB Serial Adapters)?

Thx M5ster!

Tried it myself now, if you use the recommended Keyspan USB Serial Adapter, it is sufficient to use the Keyspan software from the CD.

With the Keyspan USB Serial Adapter there is no need for the ControlCAL_USBSerial-Driver.

Hi,

You can download them, but....

For ControlCAL, you need Windows XP or newer so you use drivers for your Windows O/S. Many do use ControlCAL on Macs, with either Boot Camp, VMFusion or Parallels... see here for more info: http://www.controlcal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=182
